The hitch is as advertised, you need to enlarge two holes in the bottom of the vehicle to insert the captive nut plates. You are also required to remove an underbody panel that cannot be re-installed with the hitch installed. My biggest complaint is that the hitch design means the weight has a lot of leverage over the mounts. This means with my bike rack and two bikes, there is quite a lot of flex from the hitch/mounting even with the weight well under the max weight rating.

After a year Ive had no issues with the flex of the hitch. I most frequently use the hitch with my bike rack and one bike, which is less of an issue. I still have concerns over the longevity of the mounting locations on the car due to how much leverage the rack has over them. That being said, the hitch has performed well overall and met my needs.
This review is in two parts. I purchased a 2018 Mazda 3 and was advised to check out etrailer.com for a tow hitch so I could add a bike rack. At this time there were concerns about global supply chain issues, etc. I reached out to etrailer with my car information and shortly thereafter the correct tow hitch for my vehicle was delivered. I am not mechanically inclined so I had it installed at a shop specializing in this type of work. The tow hitch worked great for my needs: solid, secure, not rattles.
Fast forward to this year. I bought a 2019 Mazda 3 last fall and needed a different tow hitch for the newer model so back to etrailer. Once again, the correct tow hitch for my vehicle, along with comprehensive instructions with photos that detailed a plastic portion of my Mazda underbody would be removed as part of the installation process. I want to thank Neil W for taking me through the ordering process and answering my questions. Not only does etrailer deliver a great product, the customer service is outstanding.
Had this hitch for a year mounted on a Mazda 3 with no issues! It has been used to hold a bike rack for 2 bikes. Delivery was fast and the quality of the hitch seems high. I checked the bolts a month ago an they were still tight.
Installing it took drilling a couple holes in the mounting area under the car. That was easy once I learned cutting fluid is needed when drilling into metal :)
Solid and well built. A few minor scratches that I will need to touch up to slow down the rusting of the hitch. Customer service is the best at eTrailer. I found this exact same hitch a lot cheaper on another web site and eTrailer matched the price. So I got the hitch I wanted at the price I wanted from the store I wanted it from.
Installed on a 2020 mazda 3 paired with a kuat NV2 base. Everything installed perfectly with no shipping or fit issues. Well built hitch.
